(Charlotte, NC) June 16, 2008- In recognition of National Hunger month, Hands Law Office will host the 1st Hands Helping Hunger Soiree at the Historic Wadsworth House (400 S. Summit Street) on Thursday, June 26th. The event is a collaborative venture with Wolfman Pizza’s 2nd annual “Take a Bite Out of Hunger” food drive which benefits the Second Harvest Food Bank of Metrolina. Festivities begin at 5:30 PM until 7:30 PM. Guests will be treated to a medley of delectable hors devours from Wolfman Pizza. The event hopes to educate the greater Charlotte community about the continuing problem of childhood hunger during the summer months. Hands and Wolfman’s efforts go toward the month-long campaign goal to collect 850 pounds of food.

“When we heard about the “Take A Bite Out of Hunger Campaign” we were glad to jump in and sponsor an event,” Attorney Tyyawdi Baker, Hands Law Office. “We are always looking for ways to improve our community and this project, especially since it targets homeless children was one after our own hearts,” Baker continued.

During the event, Baker and David Hands of Hands Law Office, as well as representatives from Wolfman Pizza and Second Harvest Food Bank of Metrolina will be on hand to speak about the growing problem of starvation in the Charlotte community. Collection barrels will be available for canned food donations as well as stations to make monetary contributions. Donations of canned meats, canned fish, canned vegetables, canned fruit, and other foods like peanut butter, pasta, rice, macaroni & cheese, soup are all welcomed for the drive. Non-food items such as laundry and dish detergent, shampoo, deodorant, toilet paper and diapers will also be accepted.

As the largest hunger relief charity in the Metrolina area, Second Harvest Food Bank of Metrolina works to end hunger by supplying a network of over 600 non-profit agencies and churches in 19 counties with food and essential grocery products .
